Save the Dates

Hi everyone, 

October is fast approaching and we have lots of dates coming up! I wanted to provide everyone with a clear list of upcoming events so everyone can plan appropriately. As a reminder, all of these events will be added to our team website (website link: Team Website)

September 30th (Tuesday):

Event: Gymnastics concession stand 

Time: 6:15 PM - 8:30 PM 

Status: ONE more volunteer is needed! 

Details: Volunteers are needed to help run the concession stand at a Memorial event. A portion of the proceeds come back to the gymnastics program. This is a great way to meet other parents and support the team. Sign up here: Concession Sign Up

October 6th (Monday):

Event: Gymnastics pre-season meeting for athletes 

Time: 12:00 PM - 12:50 PM (lunch time) 

Location: Literature center at Memorial (next to library)

Details: Anyone interested in joining the team should plan to attend this pre-season meeting to get information about the season and meet the coaches and other teammates. Reach out with any questions. 

October 7th and 8th (Tuesday & Wednesday): 

Event: Dine to Donate for Gymnastics  

Time: All day Tuesday and Wednesday  

Location: Texas Roadhouse (West Side) (7104 Watts Rd, Madison, WI 53719)

Details: Help support the team by eating at Texas Roadhouse! Show the attached banner and then 10% of your bill will come back to the team and support the purchase of new leotards and equipment. Bring your family and friends and spread the word! 

Items Needed: I'm looking for volunteers to hang out at Texas Roadhouse at a table and promote the team and hand out flyers. If you are able to volunteer any time on these dates, please let me know! 

October 16th (Thursday):

Event: Fall team bonding trip 

Time: Afternoon and evening (more details to come) 

Details: We will be going to a nearby farm (Eugsters) and picking out pumpkins, doing a petting zoo, going through corn mazes, and more. Afterwards, we will go to Pope farm, paint pumpkins, and take sunset pictures. Trip sisters will be assigned and released day of for some additional fun. More details to come!  

November 7th (Friday):

Event: Deadline for Infinite Campus registration AND physicals turned in to athletic office 

Time: Before the end of the school day

Details: Refer to my previous email about athletes and parents registering and getting a physical on file. An athlete must have these items complete in order to be allowed to participate in practice.  

November 9th (Sunday):

Event: Gym Setup (Mandatory)

Time: 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM 

Location: Court 1 in Memorial Fieldhouse

Details:  This event is mandatory. West and Memorial gymnasts will work together to get the gym setup for the season. Wear closed toe shoes and clothe you don't mind getting dirty. There is a lot of grease, dust, grime, and dirt involved in this process. 

Item Needed: We are looking for TWO dads to help with setup. Brandon (my boyfriend) always focuses on putting the floor together and he has requested two dads to help him out. If you are able / interested in helping, please let me know. 

November 10th (Monday):

Event: First Day of Practice 

Time: 5:00 - 7:00 PM 

Location: Court 1 in Memorial Fieldhouse

Details:  First day of practice / Day 1 of 2 for tryouts. More details will be sent around this separately but high level, we will do our usual first day of practice workout (1 hour of lines on floor + 45 minutes of conditioning & strength training). 

November 11th (Tuesday):

Event: 2nd Day of Practice 

Time: 5:45 - 6:15 PM (Weight Room) + 6:30 - 8:30 PM (Practice) 

Location: Court 1 in Memorial Fieldhouse

Details:  Second day of practice / Day 2 of 2 for tryouts. More details will be sent around this separately but high level, we will do 20 minute rotations through each event with the aim for girls to show what skills they have and get some time working skills on the equipment. We will then finish with some conditioning and LONG stretching. 

November 12th (Wednesday):

Event: Parent & Athlete Team Meeting (prior to practice)

Time: 5:00 - 6:00 PM 

Location: Literature Center at Memorial (next to library)

Details: Parents of athletes will attend a parent meeting to get information on season, understand expectations, meet the coaches and other parents, turn in any final forms, and pay any additional team fees. Athletes will also attend at this time, with a portion of their time spent with just their team discussing athlete to athlete expectations.

I recognize that for new additions to the team, there is a lot of information to absorb. I am always here to answer questions! I do recommend subscribing for updates from the team website as I post all my emails and additional information there. 

I hope to meet some of our new additions soon and for any new parents, I look forward to meeting you at the parent meeting.
