Welcome to the End of Season

Hi everyone,

How is it the end of season already? 17 weeks have flown by! It really does feel like I was just writing the first week's email.

Week 16 Recap:

We finished our last week of season with an outstanding night at Sectionals that was filled with many many moments to be proud of. This was, in all my years of coaching, one of the most competitive Sectionals we have ever been apart of and it was important that our athletes be able to end the season feeling proud of the not just Sectionals night, but of the last four months. Some items of note:

  • Natalie got her PR on bars with a 6.625!

  • Grace jumped in on floor with three minutes to spare and got her PR on floor with a 8.025 while also earning TWO sticky feet for floor. Additionally, it truly was one of the best routines I have ever seen her do!

  • Sofia G did one of the best bars routines I have seen her do all season and after putting in a lot of work, she finally competed a connected flyaway. This earned her a PR of an 8.625.

  • Claire successfully competed her split 1/2 sideways on beam!

  • Sofia D bravely executed her newest skill on bars that she started working heavily on Monday (called a toe shoot). She not only caught the bar but was able to do the kip out of it and execute some BEAUTIFUL giants.

  • Genevieve earned a No Fall Star at Sectionals and successfully competed her wolf 3/4 for the first time.

In total, our athletes earned 2 No Fall Stars and 13 Sticky Feets for stuck landings!

Gym Tear Down & Leotard Turn In:

Our gym tear down and leotard turn in date is Sunday, March 9th, at 11:00 AM. This is MANDATORY for all gymnasts. Tear down should take until 1:30 PM at the latest. Please wear clothes that you are ok getting dirty as well as wear close toed shoes.

Girls should bring all their competition leotards to turn in to Danielle.

State Gymnastics:

I am planning to go up to State on Friday to support some of my off season athletes. I don't plan to go the whole day but if anyone would like to join me, please let me know. I'm happy to bring along anyone interested!

Banquet RSVP:

Our banquet will be Sunday, April 6th at 11:15 AM at Dahmens. If you haven't RSVP-ed to the banquet, please plan to do so. Kelly Jones and Amanda Ciarletta have sent out details about this.

The banquet will include brunch as well as a presentation summarizing the season. We will also be presenting our athletes with team awards, letters, and recognition awards from the WHSGA.

Off Season Planning:

If anyone has questions about off season training, please don't hesitate to reach out to me with questions.

Planning for Next Season:

As we move through the off season, I will keep everyone up to speed on planning for next season. Given the situation we are in with the district, I'm sure there will still be plenty to discuss. We will announce next season's team leaders over the summer and also coordinate some team bonding events. I never stop coaching so if you have any questions during the off season, don't hesitate to reach out.

If you know of anyone who will be a new addition to the team, please have them send me their contact info so that I can get them on our email list.

It has been an honor to coach every single athlete and I close out my 12th gymnastics season feeling as committed as ever to our athletes, the team, and the sport of gymnastics.

Cheers,

Danielle
