Hello everyone,
Welcome to week 14 everyone! We have a fun filled week ahead of us! There is a fair amount to cover in the email so please read everything to make sure you are informed and have all the information you need.
Week 13 Recap:
Last week, we had our 2nd to last dual meet against Madison United (East / La Follette) and the team earned their second highest varsity team score of a 128.15. For being in an unusual layout, the whole team performed very well and Ally, Tea, Derek and I were so proud of them on Thursday!
Some highlights from last week:
Kylie STUCK her cartwheel on beam for the first time in competition and earned a No Fall star and sticky feet! Congratulations Kylie!
Emma bravely attempted to compete her back tuck dismount on beam for the first time.
Becca competed beam and earned a No Fall star.
Sofia D got her PR on vault with an 8.45 and had a judge comment on her "perfect front layout on floor".
Finja got a double PR with a 8.3 on vault and a 7.2 on bars.
Niylah PRed on floor with a 6.5.
Sofia G competed her modified bars routine and joined the 8.0 club on bars with an 8.225.
Natalie earned her FOURTH No Fall star in a row! Wow!
Grace got her long hang kip without the extra swing and PRed on beam with a 7.2.
Kennedy's hard work has helped her bar routine be incredibly consistent and she got her third 6.1.
Claire competed her new beam dismount series, with her back tuck now off the side of the beam connected to her high level jump series, earning her an 8.6.
Genevieve competed her new floor series (a front tuck - flyspring) and earned the cherished floor sticky feet for a stuck back tuck on her third pass.
Sierra also earned a cherished floor sticky feet for a stuck front tuck on floor (regardless of it potentially breaking up the pass).
In total, our athletes earned 5 No Fall Stars on beam and 8 Sticky Feets for stuck landings!

Tuesday: 6:30 - 8:30 PM
Wednesday: 6:30 - 8:30 PM
Thursday: Dual Meet at Memorial / Senior Night
Friday: 4:30 - 6:30 PM

Craig Dual Meet / Senior Night:
Our final dual meet is at Memorial this Thursday against Janesville Craig. The schedule for the day is below:
4:00 PM: Meet in the gym to help setup
4:15 PM: If you need to be taped, get taped by 4:15.
4:30 PM: General Warm Ups and Stretching start.
5:00 PM: Event Warm Ups Start (we warm up for 20 minutes on bars first and then 20 minutes on vault second).
5:50 PM: March In (parents should plan to arrive around 5:30 / 5:45). Senior parents will walk in with their athlete during a special announcement.
6:00 PM: Meet officially starts.
8:30 / 9:00 PM: Meet ends. Senior night celebration commences.
9:15 PM: Parent pickup can occur.
Every gymnast is required to attend this meet, regardless of competition status.
We will be wearing the light green leo that says Spartans on the front.
Senior Night:
Our senior night will be a celebration of our senior Timmia. At the start of the meet, Timmia will be introduced with her parents and the juniors will present a special gift to her. She can then take pictures with her parents.
After the meet, we will have a ceremonial 'signing of the spring board'. We will have sparkling juice as well to celebrate and Timmia can take pictures with her teammates. Parents are welcome to stay for this. All gymnasts are required to stay until the board signing is completed.
Whitefish Bay:
On Saturday, we will be heading to Milwaukee for one of our favorite invites at Whitefish Bay. This invite is different from others in that we only compete with 4 gymnasts, rather than competing with 5 gymnasts and only taking the top 4 scores. Because we take every score for every gymnast we compete, there is an added layer of pressure to this meet that athletes have to be on their A-game. Despite the pressure, it's a fun meet (with some really yellow lighting!). The lineup for the day is below:
Vault | Bars | Beam | Floor | All Around |
Sierra | Natalie | Grace | Finja | Alternate |
Sofia D | Amelia | Sofia D | Sierra
Finja | Finja | Genevieve | Sofia D
Sofia G | Sofia D | Claire | Genevieve | Sofia Galassi |
Genevieve | Sofia G | Sofia G | Sofia G | Sofia Do |
With these 9 gymnasts, we have 3 spots in the vans available for anyone who would like to join us. If you would like to attend, please text Danielle and let her know.
The coach for WFB is brand new and unfortunately was left with no information on how to set up this meet. We have been helping her out but because of this, we don't have an official schedule for the day yet OR the list of what division we will be in. Once I get those details, I will let people know.
I'm sure she will send the details soon and I will send a follow up email later this week with the firmed up timing but here is the timing I sent last year that we can tentatively plan to follow.
TENTATIVE Schedule:
6:30 AM: Meet at Memorial
6:45 AM: Leave to get coffee
7:00 AM: Leave Starbucks
8:30 AM: Arrive at WFB
9:00 AM: General Warm Ups
9:40 AM: March In
9:50 AM: Warm up round 1 starts
10:00 AM: Meet officially starts
3:00 PM: Awards ceremony
3:30 PM: Meet completes! Car ONE heads back immediately. Car TWO can decide what we want to do at that time - go explore Milwaukee, go shopping, go downtown and have dinner. The late car will figure out what kind of stuff we want to do this week at practice.
5:00 PM: Rough guess of when Car ONE will get home. Once car TWO knows when it will be leaving, we will text parents and let them know.
People should let me know if they want to go home early in Car One or stay behind and explore Milwaukee in Car Two. Last year we went shopping at a mall and got dinner in the food court before heading back.
Jason's Deli Ordering:
We will have Jason's Deli as an option for our dual and for WFB. Please order by Wednesday night and Friday night.
Spaghetti Dinner:
Our final spaghetti dinner this week will be Monday at 7:00 PM hosted by Natalie's parents. The address is 1722 Shady Point Dr., Verona, WI.
Planning Ahead for Conference:
The final meet our junior varsity athletes will compete in is next weekend at Conference. Conference will be at Memorial (but hosted by West). Conference is a great meet because not only does Varsity have the opportunity to get on the podium, but so do our JV gymnasts! It's a great way to recognize everyone's hard work!
Once we figure out the Varsity roster, my goal is to have every remaining gymnast compete on the JV team (very similar to how I ran Spartan), regardless of scores. We will also nominate an All Around Queen - someone who has consistently competed all around throughout the season and who we want to highlight. Because that leaves limited JV spaces, I will ask all remaining gymnasts to rank the events they want to compete and my goal is to try and get everyone assigned to their first choice or, if not, their 2nd and 3rd choice.
While other teams have moved to picking their JV rosters based on scores, the Memorial format is a team tradition as we want to compete as one team.
More details to come next weekend!
