Welcome to Week 11 - Parker Dual & Future Spartans

Hello everyone,

Welcome to week 11!

First and foremost I want to apologize for the typo in my email from last week on the start time of the Purgolder Invite - I know it caused many to think the meet started an hour later than it did and for that I apologize! If you missed your kiddos routine, I have videos of everything I can send along.

Week 10 Recap:

Everyone who competed at the dual meet against Sun Prairie did a solid job and we had some notable successes that night! Then, on Saturday, at the Purgolder Invite, we had outstanding performances and our competitors worked hard to earns us a season high team score of 126.675! After having the invite snowed out last year, this was a great return to the Purgolder Invite!

Some highlights from Thursday:

  • Emma got a PR on vault with a 7.55.

  • Emma also competed her flyaway with ONLY two swings in front of it. Woo!

  • Genevieve got a PR on floor with a whipping 8.65.

  • Sofia D competed her yurchenko vault for the first time and joined the 8.0 by earning an 8.05.

  • Finja boosted her PR on bars to a 6.4.

Some highlights from Saturday:

  • Sofia G successfully competed her back full dismount on beam AND competed an upgraded leap series on floor! She placed 4th on beam, 3rd on floor, and 4th on all-around.

  • Kate earned a PR on beam with an amazing 8.625. She placed 3rd on beam.

  • Claire placed 5th on beam with a score of 8.5.

  • Genevieve placed 4th on vault with a score of 8.325.

  • Sofia D successfully competed her back walkover - back walkover series on beam for the first time!

  • Amellia and Timmia mastered the Y2K dress up!

  • A huge thank you to Emma for coming along to help the team out!

In total, our athletes earned 5 No Fall Stars on beam and 19 Sticky Feets for stuck landings! It should be noted that our bars squad on Saturday ALL stuck their dismounts, earning 5 sticky feet in a row!).

Week 11 Practice Schedule:

Monday: 12:00 - 2:00 PM (Optional Practice) (Spaghetti Dinner at 7:00 PM)

Tuesday: 6:30 - 8:30 PM

I had intended for Monday's practice to be at its usual time but I was informed at the last minute that the school isn't open past 2:00 PM. For this reason, I moved it early and made the practice optional. If attended, I will add two hours to your time off. No pressure if you can't attend though

On Friday, we will celebrate 50 goals being completed while we also prepare for the mini meet and open gym on Saturday.

On Saturday, gymnasts should plan to arrive at 9:15 AM to get ready even though the mini meet won't start until 10:30 (when the kiddos arrive). More details below.

We will have the girls line up to sign posters for the kiddos at the end of competition and when the open gym starts. This is a required event for everyone on the team.

We will randomly break up the team into two seperate teams (green team and white team) this week at practice. Each team will then work together to submit a line up to me where each event has four competitors competing per team.

Finals Week:

I know that finals week can bring stress as everyone is studying and doing their best to finish the semester on a positive note. I want to remind everyone that academics always comes first and if you are struggling, reach out to me for support. Do not feel guilty if you need to use your time off on Tuesday to study or if you choose to not attend practice on Monday.

Spartan Invite Preparation:

Stay on the lookout for emails about Spartan Invite, which is Feb 1st (next Saturday). This invite is hosted by us and is the pride and joy of Memorial. We take great pride in this invite as it is the same size as State (20 teams from all over Wisconsin attend). I will be sending out information about donating to the hospitality room and donating time to help run certain parts of the meet. This invite takes everyone contributing to help it be the success that is and I will accept any and all help we can get.

Stay tuned!!! :)

Jason's Deli Ordering:

We will have Jason's Deli as an option for our dual. Please order by Wednesday night.
