Week 1 - What to Expect

Hello everyone,

What an amazing gym setup! Thank you to everyone that came (and an extra shout out to Bill Riggin's for getting the floor into such great shape). We ran into some hiccups with mats still being in storage, our 2nd vault runway not being here yet, and junk from the school construction still being in the gym, but we are hoping to get all that cleared up this week.

To all of you, welcome to week 1 of gymnastics season. Here is an overview of what to expect this week:

Practice Times:

  • Monday: Practice 7-9 pm

  • Tuesday: Practice 5-7 pm

  • Wednesday: Practice 5-7 pm + Parent Meeting at 7:15 PM

  • Thursday: Practice 7-9 pm

  • Friday: Practice 5-7 pm

Overview of Week: Monday: - Warm ups, long lines, jumps, conditioning, stretching - Clothing order due - Girls selection of selection of team leo determined Tuesday: - 3 groups: Floor & Beam skill assessment + open gym - Condition, stretching Wednesday: - 3 groups: Bars skill assessment + open gym - Condition, stretching - Dance clinic for last 30 minutes of practice Thursday: - 3 groups: Vault skill assessment + open gym - Goal setting, routine basics - Open gym otherwise Friday: - Jump & leap day - Open gym - Condition, stretching - Dance clinic for last 30 minutes of practice What to expect at the parent meeting: 3 payments are required:

  1. Sport fee (pay through infinite campus)

  2. Team fee (check to Madison Memorial)

  3. Clothing order (check to Madison Memorial or other payment if easier)

Team fees cover the girls' warm up leotard as well as items throughout the season that the girls will use (butt glue, stickers, markers, puffy paint, meds, flowers, and more). I will provide a breakdown of what's included in the team fee at the meeting. I will also be asking for hosts for spaghetti dinners the nights before dual meets so if you are curious in doing that, I will have a sign up available. We have had parents pair up for these dinners in the past so that is also an option. Booking a bus has pretty much been impossible. Luckily, we only have two dual meets that are away (East and Verona). I will be asking for parents and gymnasts to help carpool to these events since we won't have the bus option this year. The link for Jason Deli boxes will also be provided. At our meets (dual and invites), you can choose to have your gymnast get a sandwich box from Jason's Deli prepared. I will pick the boxes up before the meet and they will have it for dinner whenever they want. Boxes include a sandwich choice, pickle, chips, and cookie. You will be able to select your meal options and when you want a meal (i.e. what meets) and pay online. Notes About Practice: Our locker room is the new site for the blueprints of the building for the construction team. Because of this, we will not have our usual locker room this season. Instead, girls can use the PE locker room but will need to bring the stuff into the gym. Phones are not allowed in practice. Girls will be expected to put their phones in the bags and their bags will go in a certain part of the gym. With this in mind, if you need to contact them, know their phones are away and you can text me instead (608-770-9924). Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions. I look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday at the parent meeting. Cheers,

-Danielle
