Welcome to Week 10 - First Week with Two Meets

Happy Sunday everyone!

I've got a long update today - so bear with me. Lots of information throughout :)

West Dual Recap:

We not only won our West Dual Meet (Memorial = 127.975 West = 108.60) but we beat the goal we set as a team to at least get a 126.00. I am so proud of the girls!

We had some notable things happen Thursday!

Genevieve Bieniek got her first No Fall star on beam.

Mia Walz had the most sticks of the meet - with a stuck vault, beam dismount, and bars dismount.

Tenzin Kyizom stuck her 4th bars dismount - meaning she has stuck every bars dismount from every competition so far this season. Tenzin also competed her front full on floor for the first time - a skill she spent the week working hard to implement.

Clare Murphy got a 33.0 all around score and was featured in the Wisconsin State Journal.

Sierra Jones scored an 8.2 on a vault with a 8.6 start value - meaning she only had 0.4 taken off (mainly from her landing step). This is a very impressive score!

Kate Erlandson successfully competed her upgraded bars routine and had a big boost in her score. In addition to this, she also stuck her bars dismount. Kate worked incredibly hard over break to upgrade her routine and it paid off. Congratulations Kate!

Parker Dual Meet:

This Thursday (1/12) is our 3rd dual meet at Memorial against Janesville Parker. Girls need to be ready and in the gym at 4:15 PM. Warm ups begin at 5 PM, with the meet starting at 6 PM. Competition order is Vault - Bars - Beam - Floor.

East Invite:

In order for the East Invite to occur, they need base mats for beam. Their beam mats experienced heavy damage and their replacements have not yet arrived. To help them out, we will be letting them borrow our beam mats, which will be picked up Friday morning and we have some older beam mats we will put down. Mats will then come back to us after the meet is over.

The East Invite has a dress up competition and the theme this year is 'Fun in the Sun'. The best dressed team wins a prize! Make sure you bring materials for the dress up.

There are four rounds total, each approximately 45 minutes. The competition order is Floor - Vault - Bars - Beam.

Arrive at Memorial: 6:30 AM

Head to Dunkin: 6:45 AM

Leave Dunkin: 7:00 AM

Arrive at East High School: 7:30 AM

General Stretching: 8:00 AM

March in is at 8:45 am with the first event starting at 9 AM.

We don't have minivans for this meet so we will carpool to East in the girls cars. Girls that are competing are obviously required to be there but any non-competitors interested in joining us just need to let me know this week to make sure we have enough carpool spots. This should be a great meet.

Jason's Deli:

Make sure to place your Jason's Deli order for both meets this week.

Looking Ahead:

Saturday January 21st we will have our Future Spartans meet at Memorial. This will go from 11 AM to 12:30 PM. We will do a limited number of routines on each event but the whole team is requested to be in attendance. The first hour we will have the girls warm up and compete across the four events, with the last 30 minutes as an open gym for any kiddos that show up, with the girls helping the little kids. We will also pass out posters to the kids and have a line where the girls can sign posters for the kids. I will have a poster I will send out soon that people can share with local gyms, schools, friends, etc.

Saturday January 28th is Spartan Invite. This meet is one of the largest meets in the State, with a total of 20 teams coming. I will need support from parents and friends to help with this meet. I have two sign ups:

Please sign up for any times you think you would be able to assist with. All times are based on rounds taking approximately 45 minutes so there may be some swing in the times if rounds go slower or faster.

That's all for now :) Let me know what questions you have!
