Week 17 - Sectional Recap & Season Wrap Ups

Updated: May 21, 2024

Hi everyone,

I can't believe I am sending the last weekly email of the season! 16 weeks have flown by and I can't believe we are closing the chapter on the 23-24 season.

Week 16 Recap:

We had some outstanding performances at Sectionals on Thursday and I saw a lot of displays of bravery and good sportsmanship.

A special shout out to:

  • Mia for her PR on floor and an immense amount of bravery displayed.

  • Timmia for her outstanding floor routine that was so fun to watch and one of the best routines she has done this season.

  • Genevieve for joining the 8.0 club on floor (something she has been driving for all season) and for fighting for her giants on bars (so freaking impressive!).

  • Claire for being a beam queen and executing her routine with grace and strength.

  • Kate for her bravery on beam and bars, executing routines that were fluid and beautiful.

  • Natalie for competing a bars routine she worked so hard all season to get and that she makes look effortless.

  • Grace for successfully competing her half on floor and making the judges smile during her routine.

  • Mel for her tenacity and grit and fighting like crazy for her half on floor.

A special shoutout to Amelia for offering constant help to coaches and gymnasts throughout the meet.

Exit Interviews:

I apologize again for having to last minute change of plans on Friday. I have been sick and am considered no longer contagious starting on Tuesday. Exit interviews will be broken up by grade:

Tuesday: Seniors from 4:30 - 5:00 and Sophomores from 5:00 - 6:00.

Wednesday: Juniors from 4:30 - 5:00 and Freshmen from 5:00 - 6:00.

Gymnasts should come prepared to provide nominations for:

1) Most Improved (already voted)

2) MVP (Most Valuable Player)

3) Loudest cheerer

4) Best sportsmanship

5) Funniest gymnast

If you are unable to make those times work, let me know and I can find a follow up time to meet.

BRING YOUR LEOTARD(s) to your time slot otherwise the athletic office will hound you for it.

Gym Tear Down:

Gym tear down will be Sunday, March 3rd, at noon (12:00 PM). This event is required. Because it's a tear down event, we usually don't need any parent assistance as it's pretty straight forward. Girls should be done LIKELY around 2:00 PM. Again - this event IS required! Bring close toed shoes and clothes you are ok getting dirty.

Banquet Plan:

Thank you to everyone that sent me dates for the banquet. I am in the process of planning this now and will send details along shortly.

Thank you for another season! I say this all the time but every season is meant to teach us something. As I reflect on this season, I encourage gymnasts and parents to reflect on this season as well. To our freshman parents, I hope the roller coaster ride wasn't too crazy. Every season after this will be much easier!

Cheers!
