Hi everyone,
I apologize for the late email this week. There were delays with paperwork getting sent to us for the invite this weekend but now that I have the information, it allowed me to complete our plan for this week. Thanks for your patience!
Week 13 Recap:
At the East dual, we scored a 124.75, our 2nd highest score of the season! We had 4 No Fall Stars and 15 Sticky Feet. It was also our senior night and everything went off perfectly. After the meet, we celebrated the seniors with bubbly, gifts, and signing of the spring board. Thank you to the juniors (Gabby, Tenzin, and Timmia) for helping with the gifts and thank you to the parents of the seniors for helping make the night run smoothly.
We also went to Olive Garden and celebrated a rest weekend on Friday night. It was great spending time with the girls outside the gym, having fun.
We had a new addition to the Hall of Fame last week as well. Please join me in congratulating Genevieve on her addition! Genevieve is being recognized for her persistence and tenacity when faced with challenges in the gym. All of our gymnasts are familiar with mental blocks on skills they have done before many times. Genevieve has been chipping away persistently at her own mental blocks this season and is setting a good example on how to not give up and keep fighting. I have full confidence that her hard work will pay off, and I am proud of her for continuing to choose to come back every day and keep trying. Congratulations Genevieve!
Week 14 Schedule:
Monday: Practice from 5 - 7 PM.
Tuesday: Practice from 5 - 7 PM.
Wednesday: Janesville Craig Dual Meet (at Janesville Craig). See below for details.
Thursday: Optional practice over lunch for anyone interested. We can't practice that night due to West having a dual meet.
Friday: Practice from 5 - 7 PM.
Saturday: Whitefish Bay Invite. See below for details.
Spaghetti Dinner:
Our team spaghetti dinner will be Tuesday after practice. A big thank you to Sierra's parents for helping us celebrate our last dual meet!
The address is: 2333 Talc Trail Madison WI
Janesville Craig Dual Meet:
Our final dual meet will be held at Janesville Craig High School. The line up will be released Monday. The meet doesn't officially start until 6:30 PM (due to school limitations).
Girls need to be in the gym ready to go at 4:00 PM. We will leave at 4:00 and get to the school around 4:45. We will start general warm ups at 5:15 PM. Official warm ups on each event will start at 5:30 PM. March in will be at 6:30 PM.
The rotation of the dual meet will go:
Round 1: Memorial on Bars
Round 2: Memorial on Vault
Round 3: Memorial on Floor
Round 4: Memorial on Beam
Whitefish Bay Invite:
This invite is different from any invite we go to in that instead of competing 5 varsity gymnasts, you only compete 4. That means there is no score dropping that occurs and the 4 scores that you get are the 4 score that determine your team score. This requires the gymnasts competing to be mentally ready for a bit more pressure than they are used to.
The meet is in Milwaukee so after the meet, I also see if anyone wants to stay and explore Milwaukee. We will have two cars that head out - with car ONE coming back right when the meet finishes and car TWO will stay in Milwaukee and explore. Any none competitors that want to join us should let me know ASAP to secure their spot out to Milwaukee.
The schedule for the day is below:
Schedule:
6:00 AM: Meet at Memorial
6:15 AM: Leave to get coffee
6:30 AM: Leave Starbucks
8:15 AM: Arrive at school
9:00 AM: General Warm Ups
9:40 AM: March In
9:50 AM: Warm up round 1 starts
10:00 AM: Meet officially starts
3:00 PM: Rough guess that awards will start at this time
3:30 PM: Meet completes! Car ONE heads back immediately. Car TWO can decide what we want to do at that time - go explore Milwaukee, go shopping, go downtown and have dinner. The late car will figure out what kind of stuff we want to do this week at practice.
5:00 PM: Rough guess of when Car ONE will get home. Once car TWO knows when it will be leaving, we will text parents and let them know.
Team Fundraising (Stache Cups)
We paired up with Stache to design Spartan themed thermal cups and water bottles. We also have a Spartan Invite specific design available. This fundraising will go until the end of February and the goal is to sell a minimum of 50 items. The return from Stache is pretty incredible - $10 of every item sold comes directly back to the team. If we meet our fundraising goal of 50 items sold, we will make $500 for the team. My intention is to use these funds to purchase new leos for two seasons from now - however, each leo is upwards of $100. So we have lots of fundraising to do!
Please share this information with family, friends, coworkers, and more. I am excited to kick off our first official fundraiser for the team. The link to the store is below as well as some marketing material:
Jason's Deli Ordering:
Reminder to order Jason's Deli. Remember that you can buy one at a time and don't have to buy them all at once.
Tuesday Reports:
Tuesday reports are required this week. Send a picture of your report to me (Danielle!)
Weight Room Practice:
No weight room practice due to the dual meet.
Planning ahead:
We host the Conference meet this year as well - details about that will be coming out shortly but I will need parent help again to make that meet a success. The conference meet is a JV and Varsity invite and I ensure that every member of the team competes at this meet. For some of our gymnasts, it's the last meet they will compete this season.
Additionally, we have 12 practices and 4 meets left of season. If we were to have anyone qualify for State, we would continue practice into the last week of February. If we don't have anyone qualify, we will still keep the gym up and be offering coach / gymnast practices during that time frame. Any gymnast looking to join the coaches for a work out are more than welcome to do so while we wait for the high school workshops to open up. I will release more information about this next week but if girls want additional, low pressure gym time at the end of season, know that it will be available.
That’s all I can think of for know (although I feel like I’m forgetting something). Please reach out with questions.
Season coming to an end is always filled with many emotions - I’m here to support everyone through the transitions we have coming up with love and support.
Cheers!
-Danielle
