Hello everyone,
Welcome to week 4 of gymnastics season!
Week 3 Recap: Last week was a shorter week due to the holidays. I hope everyone had a relaxing break and got to spend quality time with family and friends. Last week, we spent a lot of our time working on routines, building confidence, and starting to get competition ready. Girls also continued to work on skills and we have lots of progress being made on all fronts.
Week 4 Schedule:
Monday: Practice from 5 - 7 PM.
Tuesday: Tuesday Reports Due at Practice, Weight Room from 4:00 - 4:45 PM, Practice from 5 - 7 PM.
Wednesday: Practice from 5 - 7 PM.
Thursday: Practice from 5 - 7 PM.
Friday: Practice from 5 - 7 PM.
Saturday: First invitational in WI Rapids. More details listed below.
Week 4 Plans: Monday: Lines that are heavily leap/jump focused, then three event rotation (bars, beam, and open gym). Tuesday: Two event rotation (Mock Meet for beam competitors and floor). We will also have a team activity at the end where we create our competition hair ties together. Wednesday: Two event rotation (Mock Meet for floor competitors and bars). Thursday: Two event rotation (Mock Meet for bars competitors and vault). Friday: Two event rotation (Mock Meet for vault competitors and beam). Mock meets work by taking all competitors and alternates and doing a 10 minute warmup (like in competition) and then competing. This helps prepare the competitors for what it will be like on meet day. We will "compete" our mock meet in the same order as the meet line up (with the safety and alternate competing at the very end). This can also be a good chance to practice routines in your competition leotard, if desired. Tuesday Report 2: Tuesday reports are due this Tuesday (11/28). Girls can either bring to practice or text me a picture of their completed form. Weight Room Practice / Bring sneakers: Our next mandatory weight room day is on Tuesday this week. Girls need to be in the lower weight room before 4:00 PM. The locker room will be opened by our AD right after school is done. I will join the girls as soon as I can get to the school. Girls need to have sneakers for weight room training. First Invite (Wisconsin Rapids): Our first invite is Saturday December 2nd in WI Rapids. We will have 2 SUVs plus Derek's SUV transporting equipment heading up North. Below is our list of competitors, as well as alternates and safeties.

With these 10 listed and the two that already requested to join us (Mariah & Kennedy), the SUVs are currently full. If anyone (either gymnast or parent) wants to drive up in a separate car and join the convoy up North, we would love to have you! If there are parents that are planning to come up to cheer us on, please let me know if you would be able to carpool any gymnasts we don't have room for. If you are able to help with that, please let me know and if there's girls wanting to join, I can connect you.
The safety alternate is used at high importance meets and in worst case scenarios can jump in at the last moment and compete. The intention is not to ever have to use the safety but to introduce the concept to the newer competitors, we will use it this weekend. Safety's need to bring their competition leos and whatever else they would need to compete the event they are selected for.
There are 7 rounds total. We compete in the following order:
Round 1: Bars
Round 2: Beam
Round 4: Floor
Round 6: Vault
The schedule for the day is below:
7:00 AM: Girls Arrive at School
7:15 AM: Head to get coffee at Starbucks
7:30 AM: Leave Starbucks
9:30 AM: Arrive at School
10:40 AM: March in
10:50 AM: Bars warm ups begin
11:00 AM: Competition starts
3:00 PM: Meet ends. We will load up and head to Culvers afterwards for lunch.
5:30-6:00 PM: I would expect us to get back to the school between 5:30 and 6:00 PM.
Jason's Deli Ordering: Start thinking about placing orders for Jason's Deli boxes for the various competitions now. Remember that you can buy one at a time and don't have to buy them all at once. The link is below. If you have a gymnast competing this weekend and they want a box, please place your order ASAP. Jason's Deli Signup Spaghetti Dinner Sign Up: Last call to sign up for hosting a spaghetti dinner before the Middleton dual meet. The dinner would be Wednesday, December 23th. If you are able to take this date, please sign up at the link below. If no one is able to do it, no stress. I can take the date and host the girls. Spaghetti Dinner Sign Up Staying Focused and Positive As we enter the fourth week of practice, the excitement of season starting begins to wear off and the stresses of being a full time student and athlete starts to set in. Over the weekend, I saw this visual, loved it, and felt I needed to share it with you all. It's key that despite the stresses of everyday life, each gymnast needs to come to practice and be consistent. This starts with intention setting, taking care of your mind and body during and after practice, and staying steadfast in their commitment to their goals and the team's goals.

Myself and the other coaches are always available for questions, support, and more. We look forward to having a successful first competition filled with lots of smiles, cheering, and good memories. Cheers! -Danielle
