Week 5 - Preparing for our 2nd Invite

Welcome to Week 5 everyone!

I can't express how proud I was driving home on Saturday. Here is a recap from Saturday.

WI Rapids Recap:

Ava Riggins tied for 4th place on floor with a score of 8.95. Congratulations Ava!

The team scored 119.85. This is right around where we expected to be at the first meet of the season and we expect to see that number start to rise as routines improve and new skills get added in.

Some competition thresholds were passed last week, allowing girls to compete some of the higher level skills at the meet. One of note was Cami Hurley's overshoot on bars. She not only passed the competition threshold at practice but she competed the overshoot for the first time successfully at the invite.

We had some very notable sticks! Mia Walz stuck her front handspring vault. Tenzin Kyizom, Genevieve Bieniek, and Cami Hurley stuck their bars dismounts and Ava Riggins stuck her beam dismount flawlessly. Every step counts and these girls fought to glue their feet to the mat.

Clare Murphy gained the first No fall star of the season with her routine on beam.

Safety and Competition Thresholds:

More skills are on deck to cross their thresholds this week. I am very proud of the girls for adhering to those rules and working hard to meet the requirements.

As always, I am very open and transparent about line ups so I encourage the girls to talk to me if they have questions about line ups. We will take a bus with the West team on Saturday. This means anyone who is not an alternate or not a competitor is welcome to join us for the meet. There are 8 rounds in the meet - we compete 1 (vault), 3 (bars), 5 (beam), 7 (floor). This is the same rotation we would do for a home dual meet so it will be great for the girls to try this out.

Things on my to do list: Recover the low beam (happening on Tuesday). Jason Deli Sign Up: Don't forget to sign up for Jason Deli boxes. The lunch boxes were perfect last Saturday for the girls that ordered. Spaghetti Dinner Sign Ups: Our first dual meet is Thursday (December 15) against Middleton. I am still looking for someone to host a spaghetti dinner on Wednesday night (December 14) after practice at 7:15 PM. The sign up sheet is here: Spaghetti Dinner Sign Up If you are looking for a parent to pair up with, please either respond to this email or let me know and I can assist. Final Note: I am so proud of the girls after the first meet and the first month of practice. I have never seen a more cohesive, supportive, honest, loving, and giggly team. Let's keep this positive energy up!. As always, reach out with any questions, concerns, feedback etc. Cheers, -Danielle
