Welcome to Week 1 of Season

Hello everyone,

Welcome to week 1 of Memorial's gymnastics season! It seems like just yesterday I was writing an email to inform everyone of the pre-season meeting. Time flies! Each Sunday, I will send out an email that summarizes the upcoming week and also provides important information parents and gymnasts need to know. If anyone ever has any questions or concerns, please also feel free to reach out to me by either text, phone or email.

Week 1 Schedule:

Monday: Practice from 5 - 7 PM

Tuesday: Practice from 5 - 7 PM

Wednesday: Practice from 5 - 7 PM

Thursday: Practice from 5 - 7 PM

Friday: Practice from 5 - 7 PM Week 1 Plans: Monday: Lines, cardio, and conditioning Tuesday: Quick practice on each event followed by cardio and conditioning. Wednesday: Team expectations activity at the start of practice, followed by conditioning, then three event rotation (vault, bars, open gym). Parent meeting afterwards. Thursday: Goal setting to start, three event rotation (floor, beam, open gym) and ending with cardio. Friday: Conditioning to start, three event rotation (vault, bars, open gym) and ending with cardio. Something to note - every gymnast is expected to workout on every event at the start of season. I will open up specialization on events to gymnasts later in the season but unless otherwise discussed, every gymnast needs to be prepared to try on each event. Bring a lock to practice: Our girls will get lockers on the first day of season. To avoid any issues with theft, it is required that every locker be locked with a lock. While I will lock the locker room during practice, this is still an extra safety precaution. Snack Locker: Throughout the season, I will be asking for food donations to our snack locker. The snack locker is a way to ensure the girls have fuel for practice after a long day. Snacks should be healthy options that also provide protein and energy. If you need any recommendations on snacks, let me know. Anyone interested in signing up for a week to donate snacks can sign up here: Snack Sign Up Parent Meeting: The parent meeting will be held at 7:15 PM (after practice) in the literature center on Wednesday (November 8th). All gymnasts are required to attend and at least one parent should be present. The meeting should last 45 minutes to an hour. If you have scheduling conflicts, please let me know. Floor Music Due & Routine Sign Ups: Floor music for all gymnasts wanting to do a floor routine is due by Friday (November 10th). If you use YouTube for your music, all I need is the link sent to me. All other forms of music can be emailed or texted to me and I will save them to my phone. Any girls that need help making / choreographing a floor routine can ask me for help and sign up for time with me. If starting from scratch, I recommend 60 to 90 minutes to choreograph. Floor routine sign up times can be found here: Floor Routine Sign Up Team Photos & Senior Banners: Planning ahead - our team photos will be on Friday November 17th (when the girls don't have school). Everyone MUST be in attendance. All girls need to meet at the school at 11:15 AM and be in their competition leotards. Please plan to have hair and makeup done before arriving. Seniors will need to bring both leotards for this event (they will know what this means). We will carpool over to Waunakee for pictures as a team. If any parents are able to help carpool kids over, we would need 2 parents to assist. Our upperclassmen and coaches can drive as well, if needed. Carpool signup can be found here: Carpool Sign Up After pictures are complete, we will head back to the school and have practice from 1:30 - 3:30. Media Day: Another thing to mark the calendars with. We will also be holding a media day on Monday, November 20th from 6:15 to 7:15 PM. This will be a day that we will have a photographer in the gym taking group photos, photos by class, and individual photos. This can include action shots, headshots, or anything else the girls are interested in. We will have practice from 4:30 - 6:00 that day, give the girls time to change into their competition leo and then just have fun in the gym. Team Website: For anyone not aware, we have a team website that has lots of information and a season calendar. The link to our website is here: Team Website That's all for now. I can't wait to have a great season with each of you and I look forward to the accomplishments we will make as a team and that each girl will make individually. Cheers!
