Welcome to Week 11 - Parker & Future Spartans

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Week 11! Can you believe there is only a month and a half of season left?! 7 weeks (if you include the week of State)!

Week 10 Recap:

Week 10 was a great week! We scored a 126.4 against Sun Prairie - our highest score yet! We had 15 sticky feet and 6 No Fall stars! WOW! I think it is important to note the amount of fighting that our beamers did to stay on the beam! One of the best feelings is when multiple beam routines have 0 falls, but it's especially exciting when it's multiple routines in a row! A huge shout out to the 6 No Fall Star earners!

  1. Cami

  2. Kate

  3. Emme

  4. Amelia (put up the best fight to stay on the beam!)

  5. Natalie

  6. Mariah

We also had some outstanding scores on beam! We had multiple gymnasts not only perform a beautiful routine, but get rewarded with an 8.0 or higher. Please join me in congratulating the following 8.0 beamers:

  • Emme (8.1)

  • Cami (8.2)

  • Kate (8.4)

  • Claire (8.0)

  • Tenzin (8.35)

An additional shout out to Timmia on beam! Timmia stuck a BEAUTIFUL cartwheel on beam! She has been working tirelessly to lock in a solid beam routine and sticking that cartwheel was a great accomplishment!

Another accomplishment I wanted to highlight was Mel's vault! Mel competed her twisting vault for the first time this year and was successful! Mel has been working SO HARD on vault and it's worth it to note and celebrate her hard work! She was rewarded with a great score of an 8.125, a reminder that hard work pays off!

Another accomplishment I wanted to highlight was Sierra's DOUBLE PR! Sierra got her personal high score on two events on Thursday (an 8.3 on vault and a 7.85 on floor). This is another great example that hard work, focus, and commitment does indeed pay off.

I could go on an on - but - I will pause and get to this week's plan.

Future Spartans Meet:

The future Spartans meet is an inter-squad meet we host at Memorial where kiddos who love gymnastics and kiddos who may be future Spartans can come and watch a quick meet and then participate in an open gym with the girls. We hand out posters, have the girls sign the posters for the kids, and generally have fun. This is a MANDATORY meet for everyone.

Jason's Deli Ordering:

Reminder to order Jason's Deli, if need be. Remember that you can buy one at a time and don't have to buy them all at once. The link is below.

Tuesday Reports:

Tuesday reports are REQUIRED this week. Girls should either text me a picture of the report to me or bring the physical copy to practice. Because I will be out on Tuesday, I recommend the girls just text a picture to me this week.

Weight Room Practice:

No weight room practice due to the dual meet.

Note About Sectionals:

Sectionals will be hosted by Sun Prairie again this year. The schedule that was given to me by the school was incorrect on the day of sectionals. It will be Thursday evening, February 22nd. I just figured this out when talking to their coach at our dual meet and wanted to make everyone aware ASAP, as this is unusual and not what I had thought.

Note About Spartan Invite:

Spartan Invite helper requests will be sent out this week. If you have friends and family that are willing to donate their time to helping us run that meet, please share that information with them. Spartan Invite is MANDATORY to all gymnasts, even if you are not competing. Please plan appropriately. More info to come!  :)

A final note - I have a medical procedure on Tuesday morning and will be unable to coach or be at practice on Tuesday and Wednesday. The assistant coaches will be there though and I should be in a good spot by Thursday. If anyone needs me though, please text or call me as I will just be home resting.

Cheers! Let's have a great week!

-Danielle
