Welcome to Week 12 - Verona and Spartan Invite

Updated: May 21, 2024

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Week 12! This is going to be a busy week! This email has a LOT of information. Please read everything to ensure you're up to date.

Week 11 Recap:

Despite me being gone for part of Week 11, we conquered the week! We scored a 117.025 against Parker and had 9 sticky feet and 3 No Fall stars! We had some very exciting accomplishments! Timmia earned her first No Fall star of the season AND stuck 2 cartwheels on the beam AND got her PR on beam (5.8). Mariah earned her 3rd No Fall star AND got her best score of the season so far on beam (5.0). Grace stuck 3 of the 4 events she competed (vault, bars, and floor), with an important note that getting a stick on floor is a HARD thing to do. The energy from the team during the meet was exceptional and I was very happy to come back to lots of smiling faces and positive energies.

The future spartan meet had 15 very happy kiddos. For any parents that were waiting to get their hands on a team poster, now that we are through that event, we will have plenty of posters available. Let your daughter know if you want her to bring a poster home for you.

We also had our team outing on Saturday to celebrate 25 goals being accomplished. Our next milestone is 50 goals and with Natalie's most recent goal accomplishment of two connected long hang kips on bars, we are 12 goals away from hitting 50!

Week 12 Schedule:

Monday: Practice from 5 - 7 PM at Memorial.

Tuesday:  Practice from 5 - 7 PM at Memorial.

Wednesday: Practice from 5-7 PM at Memorial. Spaghetti dinner afterwards.

Thursday:  Verona Dual Meet (at Memorial). See below for details.

Friday: Practice from 5:30 - 7 PM. Pizza in the gym after practice. Setup for Spartan 7:30 - 9:00.

Spaghetti Dinner:

Our team spaghetti dinner will be Wednesday after practice. A big thank you to Natalie's parents for helping us celebrate our meet against Verona again!

Verona Dual Meet:

Our fifth dual meet will be held at Memorial and is against Verona. The line up will be released to the girls on Monday. The schedule for the day is below:

Girls need to be in the gym to help me set up at 4:00 PM. We will start general warm ups at 4:30 PM. Official warm ups on each event will start at 5:00 PM. March in will be at 6:00 PM.

The rotation of the dual meet will go:

Round 1: Memorial on Vault

Round 2: Memorial on Bars

Round 3: Memorial on Beam

Round 4: Memorial on Floor

Spartan Invite:

Spartan Invite is the largest gymnastics invitational outside of the state competition. This year, we will have 19 teams in attendance, from all over the state. There will be two divisions, an upper and lower score division. I will not know the final divisions or the rotation until Thursday night. I can tell you though that there will be some INCREDIBLE gymnastics this weekend! This is a MANDATORY meet for everyone, even if not competing. Why? In order to host this meet, we need EVERYONE on board with helping. This includes helping with food for the hospitality room, being a score flasher, and more.

Parents, friends, family, and siblings are all welcome to help with this event. Any open spaces left I will fill with our gymnasts, managers, and coaches. Below is the signup sheet where one can sign up:

Gymnasts: please ask your parents to donate at least 45 minutes of their time on Saturday to help.

The schedule for the day is below:

8:30 AM - Arrive at the school

9:00 AM - Start general warm ups

10:00 AM: March In

10:10 AM: First round competition begins

4:15 / 4:45 PM: Last round completes (This assumes each round is 35 minutes long. Last year, we averaged ~37 minutes a round). The award ceremony will take about 20 minutes once the last round completes.

Once the awards ceremony is over, every gymnast and manager is required to stay behind and help clean up.

Gymnasts: Clean up typically takes about 20 minutes. I can't clean the gym and move the equipment back by myself so everyone needs to help. I will not be releasing anyone until every task is complete.

Parents: if you arrive early, please be patient while your daughter is helping clean up.

To order Spartan Invite clothing, the clothing store link is below. If you order by Monday (1/22) at noon, clothing will be delivered to you at the meet. Any order placed after Monday at noon will be shipped directly to to you. Sales do benefit the team since 10% of all orders come directly back to the team.

Team Fundraising (Stache Cups)

As an additional fundraiser for the team, we paired up with Stache to design Spartan themed thermal cups and water bottles. We also have a Spartan Invite specific design available. This fundraising will go until the end of February and the goal is to sell a minimum of 50 items. The return from Stache is pretty incredible - $10 of every item sold comes directly back to the team. If we meet our fundraising goal of 50 items sold, we will make $500 for the team. My intention is to use these funds to purchase new leos for two seasons from now - however, each leo is upwards of $100. So we have lots of fundraising to do!

Please share this information with family, friends, coworkers, and more. I am excited to kick off our first official fundraiser for the team. The link to the store is below as well as some marketing material:

Tuesday Reports:

Tuesday reports are not required this week as it's finals week and grades are subject to change. The AD office will inform me of any failing grades.

Weight Room Practice:

No weight room practice due to the dual meet.

Note About Senior Night:

Senior night is the last dual meet that we host, meaning that Senior night is next Thursday (2/1). Both parents of our seniors are requested to be in attendance for this meet, as you will be walking in with your daughter during march in. This means you should be at the school by 5:30 to prepare. Additional details about senior night will be sent next week.

Celebrating Tenzin:

I would like to congratulate Tenzin Kyizom for her recent feature in the Wisconsin State Journal. This is a well deserved feature, as Tenzin possesses many of the skills that make for a successful and inspiring gymnast. She works incredibly hard at practice, stays focused, is supportive of her teammates, and sets a positive example to others. We are so proud of you Tenzin! Keep up the great work! This is always a hectic week as there is a LOT going on and a huge to do list. If there is a team that can make it happen though, it's us! Stay confident, stay positive, stay strong. Go Spartans!

Cheers!
