Welcome to Week 13 - East Dual & Senior Night

Updated: May 21, 2024

Hi everyone,

I apologize for the late email. I have been buried getting caught up after Spartan ended and wrapping up all the small details related to it. I am finally done and ready to update you on Week 13!

Week 12 Recap:

We had two meets this week; Verona and Spartan.

At Verona, we scored a 121.075. We had 2 No Fall Stars and 14 Sticky Feet.

At Spartan, we scored a 123.65. We had 1 No Fall Star and 7 Sticky Feet - 2 of which were on floor (which was very impressive!).

At both meets, the love and care between the team mates was clear! I am VERY proud of the team and very proud of everyone who is competing, trying their hardest at practice, and being kind and caring to others.

A quick note on Spartan.

1) The hospitality room was a HIT! Everyone was commenting on how happy they were and that is all thanks to YOU and the donations made. Thank you! Any leftovers that were non-perishable were stored appropriately and will be used in the conference hospitality room.

2) Thank you to all our volunteers that helped this weekend. The meet would not have been possible without you!

3) Memorial gymnastics continues to lead the way in sportsmanship! We rotated with Janesville Craig this weekend and I was informed by the coach how happy their team was to find out they got to rotate with us because "our team is so nice". Multiple teams commented on their appreciation for our gymnasts' support and our cheering for other teams brought the energy in the gym to a whole new level. I know that the Verona coach was amazed and thrilled with the support our team and others showed her team while they were on vault. I couldn't be more proud to coach a team known for its love and support.

On Friday night, I made various proposals to two gymnasts struggling with two different skills on bars. The deal was if the skill they were struggling with was performed Friday (before we had to all go home), we would go on a team outing. I am proud to say that Cami completed an overshoot with no matting and Genevieve completed one giant all before we had to leave, winning two additional team outings!

And in addition to that, we had multiple goals completed in the last two weeks that got us to our next goal level - 50 goals have been hit! That gets us another team outing! Every single gymnast contributed to these 50 goals being completed and the team outing is very much deserved! More details on one of the team outings is below - and details on the other two will follow next week. CONGRATULATIONS TEAM!

East Dual Meet & Senior Night:

Our sixth dual meet will be held at Memorial and is against East. The line up was released and the schedule for the day is below:

Girls need to be in the gym to help me set up at 4:00 PM. We will start general warm ups at 4:30 PM. Official warm ups on each event will start at 5:00 PM. March in will be at 6:00 PM.

Senior parents - I recommend you show up at 5:30 to get the run down for the night. You will be walking with your daughter during march in and we will announce seniors one by one as well as how their parents are. If there are any other special guests that seniors want walking in with them, let me know.

The rotation of the dual meet will go:

Round 1: Memorial on Vault

Round 2: Memorial on Bars

Round 3: Memorial on Beam

Round 4: Memorial on Floor

Senior Night:

Senior night is a way to celebrate our seniors last home dual meet. While we still have one more dual at Craig next Wednesday, this will be the last dual meet for our seniors in our gym. To celebrate them, we will have the following:

At the start of the meet:

1) Parents and gymnasts announced during march in

At the end of the meet:

2) Signing the seniors name on our springboard

3) Bubbly and cheers to our seniors

Team Fundraising (Stache Cups)

We paired up with Stache to design Spartan themed thermal cups and water bottles. We also have a Spartan Invite specific design available. This fundraising will go until the end of February and the goal is to sell a minimum of 50 items. The return from Stache is pretty incredible - $10 of every item sold comes directly back to the team. If we meet our fundraising goal of 50 items sold, we will make $500 for the team. My intention is to use these funds to purchase new leos for two seasons from now - however, each leo is upwards of $100. So we have lots of fundraising to do!

Please share this information with family, friends, coworkers, and more. I am excited to kick off our first official fundraiser for the team. The link to the store is below as well as some marketing material:

Jason's Deli Ordering:

Reminder to order Jason's Deli. Remember that you can buy one at a time and don't have to buy them all at once.

Tuesday Reports:

Tuesday reports are not required this week as it's the start of a new semester.

Weight Room Practice:

No weight room practice due to the dual meet.

Team Outing to Olive Garden:

To celebrate Genevieve overcoming a challenge with her giants on bars, she picked Olive Garden for dinner. We will have practice earlier on Friday (starts at 4:30) and practice will end early so we can head to dinner together at 5:30. We will plan to be done with dinner at 7:00. We will be carpooling over to the Olive Garden by Memorial.

Final note:

February is the month when everything starts to hurt. Full time practice starts to take a toll on everyone, physically and mentally. I purposefully plan the season so that we have this weekend off as a restful and relaxing weekend. After this, we have one dual meet and then three weekend meets in a row (Whitefish Bay, Conference, and Sectionals). Spend this weekend caring for your mind and body and get excited for the last month of season.

Alone we can only do so much - but together, we can do anything!

Cheers!

-Danielle
