Hello everyone,
Welcome to week 5 of gymnastics season!
Week 4 Recap: We had a successful fourth week of practice - with a mock meet on each event. Non-competitors were hard at work getting routines locked in and skills worked on. Everyone's hard work paid off this weekend when our team scored a 122.075 at the WI Rapids Invite. This is a great score for the first meet of the season and exceeded expectations. We got 4 'No Fall' stars on Beam and a total of 9 'Sticky Feet' for stuck landings. We had an especially fun ride up to Rapids and lots of teammate support and cheering. The first meet of the season is always challenging and I am very proud of the competitors for their ambition and for conquering some first meet fears. I am also proud of the team overall for the level of support shown, from competitors and non-competitors. Everyone's support helped make this meet a success!
We had another inductee into our hall of fame. Please join me in congratulating Timmia on her addition to the 2023 Hall of Fame! Timmia was added for multiple reasons! From a skill side, she has been pushing so hard to complete goals and has made great progress on each event. From a more emotional side, Timmia has set the standard! In four weeks of practice, I have not heard her complain once. She has shown up to every practice excited and ready to go and cheered other team mates on. She always has a cheerful and bright energy and is a positive force on the team.

Girls need to be in the lower weight room before 4:00 PM. The locker room will be opened by our AD right after school is done. I will join the girls as soon as I can get to the school. Girls need to have sneakers for weight room training. Second Invite (Janesville Craig): Our second invite is Saturday December 9th at Janesville Craig High School. We will have 2 SUVs plus Derek's SUV transporting equipment. Below is our list of competitors, as well as alternates and safeties.

I will have room in the car for additional gymnasts to join us. If interested, please let me know ASAP so I can plan appropriately. I will continue to use the safety alternate at this meet as a good way to introduce our newest team members to the invite structure. A reminder that the intention is not to ever have to use the safety; however, safety's need to bring their competition leos and whatever else they would need to compete the event they are selected for. There are 8 rounds total. We compete in the following order: Round 1: Beam Round 3: Floor Round 5: Vault Round 7: Bars The schedule for the day is below: 7:15 AM: Girls Arrive at School 7:30 AM: Head to get coffee at Starbucks 7:45 AM: Leave Starbucks 8:30 AM: Arrive at School 9:00 AM: General Warm Ups 9:45 AM: March In 10:00 AM: Beam warm ups begin 10:10 AM: Competition starts 3:00 PM: Meet ends. 4:00 PM: Arrive back at the school. Jason's Deli Ordering: In preparation for upcoming competitions, please think about placing orders for Jason's Deli boxes for the various competitions now. Remember that you can buy one at a time and don't have to buy them all at once. The link is below. If you have a gymnast competing this coming weekend and they want a box, please place your order by Thursday. Jason's Deli Signup Grit & Optimism As we enter the fifth week of practice, the two words that are standing out to me are 'grit' and 'optimism'. Throughout the season, everyone is going to face challenges. Challenges are not bad and should be viewed as an opportunity to learn and grow. This is where grit and optimism come into play. Grit is what causes someone to overcome a challenge and not give up. Optimism is what keeps them in a positive headspace while facing a challenge. This combination is highly valuable for a gymnast and in day to day life. I want to challenge everyone to think about how they handle challenges and how they display grit and optimism.

I am always available for questions or support. Cheers to many more successful weeks and meets. Go Spartans! -Danielle
